Methoxsalen (Oxsoralen) comes from the psoralens drug class. Vitiligo, psoriasis, and cutaneous T-cell lymphoma skin symptoms are all treated with it in conjunction with PUVA therapy. Methoxsalen operates by making the skin more susceptible to UVA radiation.

Take this drug by mouth as prescribed by your doctor, often 2 to 4 hours before to your UVA light therapy, with food or milk. Methoxsalen is more readily absorbed when taken with meals, and it also lessens nausea.

Methoxsalen dose is determined by your weight, health, and treatment response. Your skin type and reaction to therapy will determine the duration and intensity of UVA light for each session.

Dose: oral pill (10 mg)

As prescribed by your doctor, take this medication directly with food or milk 2 to 4 hours before receiving UVA ultraviolet therapy. Methoxsalen is better absorbed when taken with meals, which also lessens nausea from the drug.
